Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about VRNUM — from how Virtual Numbers and Temporary OTP Numbers work, to cryptocurrency payments, SMS delivery, privacy practices, and subscription management.

General

What is a virtual phone number?

A virtual phone number is a telephone number that operates over the internet rather than a physical SIM card or landline. At VRNUM, our numbers are real mobile numbers sourced from licensed telecom carriers — they can receive SMS messages and OTP (One-Time Password) codes from any online service, displayed instantly in your browser dashboard.

What is VRNUM and how does it work?

VRNUM is a privacy-first platform for buying dedicated virtual phone numbers. You choose a country from our catalog, pay with cryptocurrency, and your number is assigned to your private dashboard within seconds. When a service sends an SMS to that number, the message appears in your VRNUM inbox in real time — no SIM card, no phone, no carrier contract needed.

Which services can I verify with a VRNUM number?

VRNUM numbers work for the vast majority of SMS-based verifications, including WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, Uber, Dating Apps, Bumble, PayPal, Discord, OpenAI (ChatGPT), Claude (Anthropic), Google, Facebook, Instagram, Amazon, TikTok, X (Twitter), and hundreds of other platforms. Note: a small number of services actively block all virtual numbers regardless of source. If a service has blocked the entire number range, no provider — including us — can bypass that.

Are these real mobile numbers or VoIP numbers?

Our numbers are sourced from real mobile carrier allocations through licensed telecom partnerships — not consumer VoIP services like Google Voice or Twilio trial accounts, which are routinely blocked. Because our numbers originate from genuine mobile network ranges, they are not flagged by the fraud filters most major platforms use and have a significantly higher SMS delivery success rate.

Do I need to provide ID or personal documents?

No. VRNUM requires absolutely zero KYC (Know Your Customer) documentation. You only need an email address to create an account. We accept no passports, no government IDs, no credit cards — only cryptocurrency. Your identity is never asked for or stored.

Payments & Pricing

How do I pay for a virtual number?

All payments on VRNUM are made using cryptocurrency via our integrated Cryptomus gateway. We support Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), USDT (on TRC20 and ERC20 networks), Litecoin (LTC), and several other coins. You can either pay directly at checkout for each purchase, or top up your VRNUM wallet balance and use it for instant, fee-free purchases.

What is the VRNUM wallet and why should I use it?

The VRNUM wallet is an internal balance you top up once with cryptocurrency and then use to buy or renew numbers instantly — no crypto checkout required each time. It's ideal if you manage multiple numbers or want seamless auto-renewals. Wallet balance never expires as long as your account is active.

What is the difference between monthly and yearly plans?

Monthly plans give you the number for 30 days at a higher per-month rate — best for one-time verifications or testing. Yearly plans commit you to 365 days on the same number at a deeply discounted rate (up to 65% savings versus paying monthly 12 times). If you plan to keep a number for WhatsApp, Telegram, or any long-term service, the yearly plan is significantly more cost-effective.

Are there any hidden fees?

No hidden fees on our end. The price displayed is what you pay in USD equivalent. Cryptocurrency network gas fees (e.g. Ethereum gas) are charged by the blockchain itself and are outside our control — they are shown at the Cryptomus checkout stage before you confirm. Paying from your VRNUM wallet balance has no additional fees.

Can I get a refund?

Because virtual phone numbers are digital goods that are provisioned instantly, all sales are final once a number has been assigned to your account. However, if a number is defective — meaning it cannot receive SMS from any service through no fault of your own — contact [email protected] within 24 hours of purchase with your order ID. We will investigate and issue a credit to your VRNUM wallet if the fault is confirmed on our end.

Numbers & SMS

How quickly does a number activate after payment?

Wallet balance purchases activate in under 5 seconds. Cryptocurrency payments activate the moment the transaction receives its first blockchain confirmation — typically 1 to 10 minutes for Bitcoin, under 1 minute for USDT (TRC20) and Litecoin. You'll see your number appear in your dashboard automatically with no action needed.

Will I keep the same number for the duration of my plan?

Yes. Once a number is assigned to your account, it remains yours for the full subscription period (30 days for monthly, 365 days for yearly). Renewing the same number (via wallet auto-renew or manual renewal) continues on the exact same number.

Does auto-renewal work? How do I set it up?

Yes. Enable auto-renewal from your dashboard for any number. When your number has 3 days left before expiry, we'll automatically attempt to renew it using your VRNUM wallet balance. If your balance is insufficient, the number will expire. We recommend keeping enough wallet balance to cover renewal costs if you depend on the number.

Can the number receive phone calls?

No. Our numbers are SMS-only and are optimized specifically for OTP and SMS reception. Voice calling is not supported. If you need inbound voice capability, this is not the right service for you.

What if I don't receive an SMS I was expecting?

First, wait up to 5 minutes — some services batch-send verification codes and there can be a short delay. If the SMS still hasn't arrived, verify you entered the number correctly in the service. Check that the service hasn't flagged the number (rare, but possible for new registrations). If SMS delivery is confirmed as failing through no fault of yours, contact support within 24 hours for investigation.

What happens when a number expires?

Once a number expires, it is deactivated and released from your account. You will no longer be able to receive messages on it, and it may eventually be recycled by the telecom provider. Any pending incoming SMS that arrives after expiry will not be delivered to you. Enable auto-renewal with sufficient wallet balance to prevent expiry.

Temporary OTP Numbers

What is a Temporary OTP Number?

A Temporary OTP Number is a single-use phone number you buy specifically to receive one SMS verification code. Unlike a Virtual Number (which stays on your account for 30 or 365 days), an OTP number is active only until the code arrives — then it's done. OTP numbers are perfect for quick one-off registrations where you don't need to keep a persistent number.

What is the difference between a Virtual Number and a Temporary OTP Number?

A Virtual Number is dedicated to your account for a full subscription period (monthly or yearly) and can receive unlimited SMS. It's best for long-term services like WhatsApp or business accounts. A Temporary OTP Number receives exactly one code and then expires. It's cheaper and faster — ideal for when you just need to verify a new account one time and don't need the number afterward.

Which services can I use OTP numbers for?

Temporary OTP Numbers work for single-code verifications on Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram, Google, Facebook, Twitter/X, Discord, Spotify, and dozens of other platforms. When buying, you select both the service (e.g., WhatsApp) and the country code to maximize compatibility with that specific platform.

How do I pay for a Temporary OTP Number?

OTP Numbers are purchased exclusively from your VRNUM wallet balance — the process is instant and requires no crypto checkout at time of purchase. Top up your wallet once with cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, USDT, ETH, LTC, etc.) and then buy any number of OTP activations instantly with one click.

What happens if I never receive the SMS code?

If the code doesn't arrive, you can cancel the activation for a full refund to your VRNUM wallet. You can also request an SMS resend (the service will re-send a new code to the same number). If neither works within the activation window, cancel to recover your funds.

Can I get a refund on an OTP number?

Yes — OTP numbers offer a full refund if you cancel before the code arrives. If you cancel an unused activation, the full amount is credited back to your VRNUM wallet balance instantly. This is different from Virtual Numbers, which are non-refundable once provisioned.

How long does an OTP activation last?

An OTP activation stays active for up to 24 hours. If no code arrives within that window, the activation automatically expires. You can also cancel manually at any time before a code arrives to receive a full refund.

Can I get multiple OTP codes on the same number?

No. Each OTP activation is single-use — it receives one verification code and then it's done. If you need another code (e.g., for a different account or service), you purchase a new OTP activation. The per-activation cost is low, and you can buy as many as you need.

Privacy & Security

How private is my data on VRNUM?

Very private by design. We collect only your email address (required for login and support contact), transaction records (required for order fulfillment), and temporary SMS logs (shown in your dashboard, purged periodically). We do not collect your name, location, IP address for tracking, or any identity documents. Cryptocurrency payments mean there is no credit card or bank account linked to your VRNUM account.

Can anyone else see my incoming SMS messages?

No. Each virtual number is exclusively assigned to one account. Incoming SMS messages are visible only to the account holder in their private dashboard. VRNUM staff do not routinely read message contents. SMS logs are periodically purged from our servers.

Is it legal to use a virtual phone number?

Using a virtual phone number for personal account registration and SMS verification is legal in most countries. Millions of people use virtual numbers for privacy, secondary accounts, and cross-border service access every day. VRNUM strictly prohibits use of our service for fraud, harassment, spam, impersonation, or any other illegal activity — see our Terms of Service for the full acceptable use policy.
